This
photo shows 24 of the 28 blocks that are available. The photo below
shows a closer view and a little better representation of the true
colors.
This
group includes 28 pieced 11.5" blocks and 2 1/8 yards of the fabric
shown at left. You could easily fill in with plain 11.5" squares cut
from the fabric to make a larger quilt.
I
am cutting off my larger pieces of batik fabrics from my collection
starting in the early 1990s. They are all top quality pima cotton type
batiks, no loosely woven or dull finish batiks. They have all been washed and ironed. Fat sixteenths are approximately the size of a
sheet of standard copy paper.
20 multicolor fat 16ths - each approximately 9" x 11" All sold!!!!
I
am cutting off my larger pieces of batik fabrics from my collection
starting in the early 1990s. They are all top quality pima cotton type
batiks, no loosely woven or dull finish batiks. They have all been washed and ironed. I'm
doing them in color groups so my second offerings are shown here and
detailed below. Fat sixteenths are approximately the size of a
sheet of standard copy paper.
20 light/neutral fat sixteenths (each approximately 9" x 11") $15.00
All sold
20 red fat sixteenths (each approximately 9" x 11") $15.00
All sold
20 pink fat sixteenths (each approximately 9" x 11") $15.00
All sold
23 yellow/orange fat sixteenths (each approximately 9" x 11") $17.25
pack of 40 fat 8ths (9" x 22") which is 5 yards of fabric. All
are Kaffe Fassett fabrics except for 6 Brandon Mably added for a good
selection of colors. Most of the Kaffe prints are older ones, the kind
you see on ebay for $4 and higher for a fat quarter ($16+ a yard).
This
is a backing, fusible batting and raw edge batik strips. They are
stitched down with 2-3 rows of straight stitching by machine with rayon
embroidery thread. It is approximately 17" x 21.5". Click on this link
to see what I made with a similar background. I thought I wanted to do
another one but have lost interest in it so maybe someone reading would
like to have fun with it.
Here
are 2 sample selections of one piece each of 120 different fabrics,
regular quilting cotton (not batik). Pieces 2.5" x 4.5". There are 2
kits alike of one of the trays, the rest of the kits are a variation of
the other tray (so all kits are not identical). The kits are intended
as starter packages for a group from which you could assemble a
colorwash quilt top. You would need to add additional fabrics from your
own stash.
This colorwash wallhanging which has a large variety of fabrics
was designed one piece at a time on a design wall. This piece is
23.75" x 24". It is quilted and has a traditional binding and a hanging
sleeve.
This piece is
9.5" x 12" and is created one little piece at a time in a colorwash
style. All of the pieces have loose edges partially held down by the
machine quilting. It is very lightweight and doesn't have a rod pocket
or hanger. I have hung one from a tiny safety pin at the center top
edge and a wire brad nail in the wall.
This is a quilt
top only (not a finished quilt). It is approximately 32" square and
has 256 little squares in it. The gray is the design wall flannel, not a
border. Click on the photo to enlarge.
This
is a quilt top (not a finished quilt) and it measures 28" x 35" and has
300 little squares to make the colorwash design. Click on the photo to
enlarge it.
This
quilt TOP is made with blocks called "Strips that Sizzle" explained in a
book by the same name written by Margaret Miller. First fabric is cut in strips, then sewn in stratas, then cut into blocks. The
blocks are then taken to the design wall and played with until the layout is
pleasing. This is a quilt TOP ready to quilt and it is 57.5" square. Here is a closeup of the border fabrics. The blues lean toward periwinkle and the reds are rosy.
This all batik fabric
quilt TOP is 48.5" square. All of the pinwheels are 3D folded
triangles. The edges could be turned back like
cathedral window to make curved edges.
