When I went into my studio to pick up this quilt and the light from the window was coming across it I knew I had to take a photo. It isn't easy to show the quilting when it is ditch quilted. I'm really happy with it. I have decided I will leave the edges curved which was my original intention when I started this series of 5 quilts. I am going to cut bias strips and use them as facings, so they will be sewn on the front like binding and then fully turned to the back of the quilt. I think I need to cut it 1.5" and it will be a half inch wide on the back. I may cut a piece and test it before I cut the whole length that I need. If I decide it isn't going to work then I will do regular facings.
The reason I needed to move it was to bring this one in to be quilted. I got it all ditch quilted last night. This photo is before quilting.
Then I brought the Strips 'n Curves back into the room to do the binding. These 2 quilts are going to look nice next to each other in the gallery.
Here is another quilt made by one of the purchasers of my batik colorwash kit. I think she did a great job. While you are at her blog, check out her Jan. 8th post about a quilt that is being raffled. The money is going to a great cause and it is a beautiful king size quilt.
