Answers to questions about yesterday's quilt top

There were some questions about measurements of pieces and construction order so I thought I would show a close up of a couple of the blocks and answer them.  The center is a 5.5" square.  I used 1.5" and 2" strips to border the squares.  Half of them have the 2" strips first and the
other half have the 1.5" strips first.  I add 2 side borders first and then top and bottom for both rounds.

Another question was about figuring the sizes for the setting triangles.  In the past I used the method of measuring the diagonal of a block, add 1.25" and cut squares that size and cut diagonally twice.  Sometimes I don't have enough fabric to cut those large squares so I invested in this ruler.  I now cut strips to cut the triangles from.
You measure your unfinished block and find the line on the side of the ruler.
Then follow that line across to the center and it tells what width strip to cut for the setting triangles.  There is a direction sheet that comes with the ruler with more information on it.
Carol, you don't have an email link for your comment, and you wanted to know about sashing.  I'm not sure what you want to know.  I have an email link on the right side bar of my blog if you want to email me directly.
