I have the binding hand sewn on 3 sides and I really like it. I think of this as a wallhanging, 60" square. I usually sew my hanging sleeve on the top edge before I hand sew the binding on that edge, catching the raw edges of the hanging sleeve under the binding. Now my question for you: If you were purchasing this piece, would you be thinking of it as a lap quilt and want to remove a temporary hanging sleeve, or would you be purchasing it as a wallhanging (which could have a permanent sleeve sewn into the bound edge). A full shot of this quilt is here. I have to have a hanging sleeve on all of the quilts for my gallery show so some will be temporary, some permanent.
