monthly recap

September recap...........

There were no complete finishes in September.  Because of the restrictions on my left arm after pacemaker surgery there wasn't a chance I would do any machine quilting.

I made this little baby quilt top in September with a box full of 3" flannel tumbler shapes.
I'm not sure if this tablerunner top is finished or whether it will get a border but it is the only other thing I assembled in the month.

I did finish sewing all of the Australian fabric Hunter Star blocks and now that I can move that arm more I will be going to the design wall with the blocks.

There are still restrictions on the left arm for cyclic motions like vacuuming and window washing for the next 60 days.  Machine quilting whether on the longarm or regular machine would need a lot of action with the left arm so maybe a small project or 2 may get finished next month but nothing large that would take hours of action.  I am so happy I pushed to get a lot of finishing done in the first 7 months of the year.

August 2017 recap

Nothing was finished in August.  I did get a quilt basted but haven't had time to start the quilting.  I didn't even finish a quilt top.  Here are my only accomplishments. 4 little mug rug tops.

Lots of Hunter Star blocks made, more than are in this photo.

Pieces cut for another Australian fabric quilt.

I didn't take a photo of the finished preemie layette items but I finished 15 sets for our church project.

I did do some new planting in the back garden early in August but it has been so dry since then that I haven't done any more work out there.  Maybe September will be more productive.

July 2017 monthly recap

I had 2 finishes in July.  The flannel quilt made with 9" tumbler blocks is 64.5" x 80".   The hot pink improv wallhanging is 26" square.  I just looked up when I gave the workshop that I started the hot pink piece in and it was March 2003.  I'm glad to finally have it finished.  I didn't have any finishes the last 2 years in July so I'm ahead of the game this year.
I finished 3 quilt tops in July.  The 2 large ones have been in progress for several months and just needed final decisions and sewing.
Marcia Derse fabric Drunkard's Path 48.5" x 69.5"
Old Italian block in batiks 38" x 48"
Seed Packet top with fussy cut floral fabrics 68" x 83"

June 2017 monthly recap...........

I finished two quilts in June.  One was the modular quilt made with Dutch Wax Batiks and the other a Trip Around the World made with Australian fabrics.  This makes 17 finished quilts so far for 2017.  Since 2010 the most quilts I have finished in one year is 26 so maybe I can break that record this year.
I also finished two table toppers each about 16" square.

I completed two quilt tops.  The one on the left was completely made in June and the one on the right was waiting for a few years for its borders.  I finished sewing on the wide borders at 10:30 last night.  It measures 79.5" x 99" now.

May 2017 monthly recap..........

I had just one finish in May.  Last year in May I had no finishes but this was a top that was completed in May 2016; one year from completed top to completed quilt.  It is 38.5" x 52.5".

I finished two quilt tops in May.  The purple one is 62" x 88.5" and the chevron top is 36" x 45.5".

The month was filled with lots of gardening and other outside work.  I also made many trips to the post office and mailed out about 40 batik colorwash kits.  I worked on the blocks for my triangle star quilt for which I still haven't chosen a sashing fabric.

Last year I didn't have any finishes in June, July or August so I'll try to do better than that this year.  I did finish some tops in those months which I hope to also do this year.

Monthly recap April 2017......

I had just two finishes in April, one large, one small.  The Snail's Trail is all batiks and is 59" x 83".  The Redwork baby quilt is 30s reproduction fabric and machine embroidery and is 33" x 43.75".
I finished one quilt top made from 30s reproduction fabrics and Kona solids.  It is 70.5" x 93.5".

The rest of the month was spent making batik triangle star blocks and having fun with family.

May will have more time spent outdoors playing in the dirt and mowing grass but I hope I will have something to put on a recap page at the end of the month.

March monthly recap..............

I had 3 finishes in March.  Two of the tops were made in February and the the third top was finished in June last year. The flannel tumbler quilt is 61" x 82.5", the yellow one 41" x 59" and the plaid drunkard's path (Bouncing Balls) 54" x 70".
I also finished three table runners and one table topper.

I completed two quilt tops.  The Trip Around the World top is all batiks and the 9" tumblers are flannel.  The tumbler quilt top is 65.5" x 81". I have chosen 3 fabrics to piece the backing so I hope to quilt it in April.

Monthly recap....February 2017

I make a folder in Pictures on my computer for each month for totally finished projects and another for finished quilt tops.  Then it is easy to go into Picasa3 and make my collages.  I had forgotten I finished 2 small projects last month but there they were in the finished folder.  Two lap quilts, two wallhangings, a tablerunner and 2 placemats......not too bad for the shortest month of the year.
I also started and finished three quilt tops.  I was so happy to use up about half of my flannel scraps in the tumbler quilt.  I have been cutting the rest of the scraps with my die cutter so there should be another one or two flannel quilts this month.

January 2017 recap...........

Here are the January finishes all together. I have my quilt tops on a list in 3 size groups (small-up to 66" on the longest side, medium-67" to 79" on the longest side and large, 80" or longer on the longest side.) I have the fewest in the medium size.  I finished 2 small, 1 medium and 2 large in January.  That makes me especially happy that I finished 2 of the large ones.
I finished 2 quilt tops.  The Snail's Trail on the right was started and finished in January.  The one on the left was just a border added to a top I thought was done early in December when I sewed the blocks together.  See it here at that point.  However when I was putting away the Marcia Derse fabrics I spotted this dark brown one.
I thought it looked great with the top and added 5" borders.  It is about 65" x 83" now.

December 2016 monthly recap.............

I'm not done with the 2016 collages so I decided to post the December 2016 recap instead today.  Hopefully I will post mid-day Monday with the yearly collages.  I finished 3 quilts in December, all in the last week of the month.
I finished one quilt top.  I decided it will not have borders and will be quilted soon.

I had one more that I thought was done but I have decided it will get borders so it will be in the January finishes instead.

I made 20 new mug rugs of which several are still for sale on my Wandaful Quilts blog (link above this post and also on the right sidebar).

I made 16 flannel pillowcases for gifts to my family.

It was a productive month.  I wanted to finish more quilts but just couldn't get motivated to do it.  It is so much more fun to procrastinate.......just kidding.
